There are so many great TV shows that are exported from the US to the UK. The Brits are currently totally gripped by Homeland, for example.

But did you know that they return the favor and send some of their best TV shows back across the pond for our enjoyment.

Here’s my run down of the best of British TV, old and new to watch out for:

1. Being Human – Based on the premise that ghosts and ghouls are not the stuff of legend, but instead walk amongst us. The series features three twenty-something house mates, trying to live normal lives, despite that fact that they are a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost. In the UK this ran in 2011, 2012, and will have a series in 2013.

2. Extras – This is no secret show with cult appeal. Extras is already popular in the US, and has won a Golden Globe, plus several other industry awards. There have been three seasons made to date, which were broadcast in the UK in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

3. Life on Mars – This time-travel cop series is based on a UK series of the same name. Both are set in the 1970s. You might enjoy the UK version, but there are so many cultural references, the US series will probably resonate better with you. If you are interested in the UK version, there were 2 seasons, and then a follow-up series set in the 1980, called Ashes to Ashes.

4. Doctor Who – Every actor plays The Doctor in their own special way, helping the show to constantly evolve. Fans of the show can kit themselves out with Doctor Who toys, like his trusty Sonic Screwdriver, and leap around the house, pretending to be The Time Lord.

5. Torchwood – A spin off series from Dr Who starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. Jack is a member of the Torchwood Institute, an underground criminal investigation group which battles extraterrestrial and supernatural threats. To date this has had four seasons.

6. Outnumbered - There have been plenty of comedies about raising kids, but what makes this one special is that the 3 child actors were given a lot of space to do their own thing, meaning the script is part-improvised. This has had 5 seasons, from 2007 to 2011.

7. Teachers - The funny, human side of teachers that you didn’t get to see at school. This ran for four series in the UK, from 2001, before getting a US remake in 2006. The US version had just one season, because, well it just wasn’t that funny, but the UK version was great – well worth half an hour of your life to check out an episode.

8. Sherlock – Fast-paced, smart, witty, crime-solving drama with hints of comedy. Three short seasons have been made so far.

9. Skins – Last year this series got a US makeover, shocked a few people’s socks off, and didn’t really get great feedback. There have been 6 seasons of it in the UK, and it is well worth a watch, with touching story lines and gritty filming.

10. Blackadder – An oldie, but a goodie. You cannot consider your comedy education complete until you have watched at least one season of Blackadder. Each of the four seasons is set at different, but equally important periods in British history.

I couldn’t resist this opportunity to make you laugh:

Movies these days are very different compared to what it was back then. Today, anything is possible with the special effects that we have and there have been very nice stories about pets being the hero. If you have a pet that you have trained so well, there is a chance that you can star your pet in his or her very own movie. There have been movies where dogs have the lead role like Beverly Hills Chihuahuas, Hachiko and many more and if you think your pet is perfect on the camera, you can audition your pet and your pet might just get lucky and become a star.

We all want the best for our pets and making them a star is something that a lot of owners want. There are so many people with dreams of becoming a star but they cannot make that dream come true and they would be more than happy if their pet made their dream come true for them. But to make your pet a star, it has to be trained really well and groomed properly. Everything has to be done to make the pet look good and one of the hardest pet problems to solve is flee problems. You will also have to deal with your pets sickness especially when it is working hard on set because it will easily get sick when it is tired.

The best solution for these problems is to use 1800petmeds coupon code. This coupon code makes it much cheaper to buy medicines for your pets just so you are ready in case something happens. It is always better to be prepared and you can use the 1800petmeds coupon code not only when your pet is already a star but anytime your pet gets sick. We do not want anything bad to happen to our pets and giving them the best care possible is cheaper with the coupon code.

Although commonly used to describe very successful big budget film launches the term blockbuster has its origins in aerial bombing. This was because of the biggest bombs that could destroy a whole block of buildings. As often happens in our language the term started to describe anything that made a big public statement.

An alternative theory is that when such a spectacular was launched downtown, all the other cinemas on the block went bust. Hence the term blockbuster. It is not hard to see how the word was then used to describe these film launches.

Earlier blockbusters were The 10 commandments and Ben Hur. They were described as blockbusters because of the high figures taken at the box office at the time. Moving a little more up-to-date, Jaws was of the more modern era, and takings were above 1 hundred million dollars. But Gone with the Wind was in fact even better, even though the date was 1939, a long time ago.

Jaws was pivotal in the business because the big studios then started focussing on big event features with very wide appeal to mass audiences. The plan was to make big budget bonanzas and then heavily advertise them.

As with many new ideas that are milked for all their worth, a public anti-reaction was created by the public and critics alike, bemoaning the fact that the abundance of so many blockbusters and lamenting the loss of the well-written story – films that did not need a big budget but reached the heart in a way the biggies did not. Films people could relate to and identify with the characters.

Today’s latest big hits are perhaps an amalgamation of the two genres. So we have the big budget pirates of the Caribbean in a series of films, but where the character is an attractive rogue that we could laugh at and enjoy. The series was so popular that complementary merchandise grew up around it.

As an example you can visit costume stores online such as www.officialpartydirectory.co.uk and see very wide ranges of pirate clothes, styles to suit all. Men, women and children. This reflects the overall popularity of such films to all ages and genders.

If your a big Harry Potter fan, then you know all about The Wizarding world of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando. This Harry Potter themed land is located inside Islands of Adventure, one of the two theme parks at Universal.

Well recently there has been rumors of another expansion to that land, meaning they will be adding more rides based on the Harry Potter movies. But until now nobody really knew what they would do, or when.

Well I now have good information that Universal Studios Orlando will be starting to build another Harry Potter “land” over at the other park, Universal Orlando. In fact it will be right in the spot of the recently closed down JAWS ride. That closed January 3rd.

The biggest news is what seems to be the featured attraction ride in this new land. From blueprints it would seem as though the big featured ride will be an inside roller coaster modeled after the famous ride down under Gringotts Bank on that rail car that went to the vaults.

As Harry Potter fans know that is one of the biggest thrills from the last HP movie. The blueprints give detailed ideas about what the ride will be like, including many twist, turns, drops, water and heat. If it’s anything like Universal Studios “The Mummy” ride roller coaster, fans will be in for a big treat!

Now I must caution you that as of now it’s still just speculation. But my source is pretty good and the plans seem to have a lot of details in them. Not everyone will be happy to see them make a second Harry Potter land in the other theme park, but it does make sense.

This way they can get more guest to visit both parks, not just one. So be on the lookout for more news about the new Gringotts Bank roller coaster ride to come in the new Harry Potter land at Universal Studios!

If there’s one thing Disney knows how to do, it’s make money. Of course since they provide quality entertainment and great films in return, no one is really complaining. If you think about the Disney machine for a moment, you’ll realize what an amazing enterprise it is. For all its critics and detractors, you can’t deny they blend quality entertainment with a supreme moneymaking industry. They’ve recently tapped into the 3-D market while generating an incredible profit at the same time. Disney has done it in a smart way that allows them to rerelease old films with a 3-D punch up. Last year they rereleased the “Lion King” with 3-D enhancements, and even Disney was surprised at how much money they made off of this venture. They have even more plans for 2012 with some of the most popular films in their collection.

Recently Disney rereleased “Beauty and the Beast” to incredible numbers as well. While it didn’t make as much money as the Lion King, no one is complaining about the overall sales figures. It’s rather impressive for a film that’s over 20 years old to debut back at number two on the charts. When you add in the fact that this is a true Disney classic, it’s no wonder why audiences were eager to see it again. This is even after the fact that Disney had a version on Blu-ray video that was already 3-D.

When you talk to audiences who see these movies again, you get mixed reactions about the 3-D effects. Some people enjoy seeing anything in this format because it makes the experience more lifelike. There are others for less than dazzled by the overall effects, but they appreciate being able to see some of these classic movies on a big screen format. In general, it really does enhance the overall experience especially for young children who’ve never seen these movies before. They might have experience at home on a television screen, but seeing these films in a theater is obviously more exciting. For some kids who are tapped into modern technology, their only exposure to these films is through a small device hooked up to a pair of wireless TV headphones.

At the end of the day, whether you see this as a cash-grab or not, it’s all about the kids isn’t it? You probably have wonderful memories growing up with these films and it’s a great thing to be able to share them with your own children. They don’t care about whether Disney is money hungry or not, they just love to see these types of films. And you also get a chance to relive them while transporting yourself back to a less cynical time. In a day and age when there is so much new technology grabbing children’s attention like video games, karaoke machines, and the Internet, it’s nice to be able to return to a classic form of entertainment done by the people who know what the best.

Hollywood’s movie making history makes it one of the most popular destinations for travelers to California. In fact, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre are two of the most popular tourist attractions in Los Angeles and usually at the top of visitors’ “must-see” list.

Just about wherever you travel to in the state, however, you can enjoy a bit of movie making history. From a visit to its northern-most point – Crescent City, where the Endor forest scenes in ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’ were filmed in the nearby Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park – to a San Diego vacation in the south, a film location for many movies over the years, from ‘Citizen Kane’ to ‘Top Gun’ – the entire Golden State is replete with locations from popular films.

A San Diego neighbor-city, Oceanside, celebrated the 25th anniversary of ‘Top Gun’ over the 2011 Memorial Day weekend. (The timing for the celebration was especially fitting since the movie’s storyline focuses on a group of Navy fighter pilots stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station.) The video clip below shows then-and-now views of the house where “Charlie” (played by actress Kelly McGillis) lived in the film, which is located at 102 Pacific Street in Oceanside. Sadly, the house is slated to be torn down soon as part of Oceanside’s waterfront redevelopment initiative, although there is talk of relocating it inland to retain its tourist attraction value. Check it out below!

Do you love horror movies as much as I do? Nothing is better than watching a movie that has the potential to make you piss your pants. There are tons of people who love horror movies and are searching for new movies to watch all the time. If you’ve seen all of the classics and pretty much any other ones that exist, perhaps you can make some money writing reviews about the movies you watch. There are many ways to make money from home and this is a legit one unlike those work from home scams you see all over the internet.

The basic plan is to writing interesting or creative reviews about the horror flicks that you see. People would rather not waste 90 minutes of their life sitting through a bad movie so they look for reviews to help to decide whether or not a movie is worth watching. Now, there are a lot of movie review sites out there already so in order for you to get traffic to your site, you’ll need to focus on a specific niche within the horror genre such as zombies for example. You could write about the best zombie movies and even have news on any upcoming ones. The way you would make money is to sell related items or put up ads but that will only happen when you get a lot of traffic.
